Azul Macaubas

Azul Macaubas is originally a sandstone rich in quartz which has through the years converted heat and pressure to form a new rock; a quartzite with completely different properties.

The extraction sites are situated west from Macaubas town in Bahia state, the warehouse is extended on a length of 30 kilometers, eben though not all the areas are minable.
In addition to the principal component of quartz, there’s the presence of dumortierite, a rare blue mineral with a purple variant that has the characteristic to present as an ensemble of needles or fibrous masses; this mineral it0s composed from an aluminium borosilicate and iron; so we can talk in a petographic sense of a dumortierite quartz.
Generally, the stone contains medium quartz values of 80%, 15% dumortierite and about 5% of moscovite.
Azul Macaubas it’s a famous natural quartzite and it’s appreciated all around the world, thanks to its characteristics and particular shades.

It presents with a non uniform color, but homogeneously shaded in various gradation of blue and light blue, from the most delicate tones to the most fascination and deep, which makes it one of the most exclusive materials in the world.

Thanks to the big variety of dumortierite present on Azul Macaubas, it can be found from time to time, a few gold or beige veins or purple that are another added structural characteristic.

This marble is characterized from a consistent durability and resistance, which makes it ideal for interiors, but it can also be used in exterior environments.

The possible relizations are: floorings, stairs, tables, sinks, showers, decors and general coatings.
