The micromosaic presents a technical approach that prioritizes visual resolution, chromatic continuity, and photographic fidelity.
The use of 1–3 mm tesserae enables the translation of photographs and complex subjects into surfaces characterized by meticulous precision and compositional balance.
This technique is particularly suited for commissioned works intended for private collections, prestigious residential settings, and high-end decorative installations.

The reduced size of the tesserae increases the work’s “information density”, allowing for more gradual tonal transitions and more natural curves compared to traditional mosaic.
Fine and linear elements — such as a cat’s whiskers — require minute tesserae and an extremely precise chromatic selection to achieve clarity and depth without compromising the overall unity of the image.

Materials
Enamelled stones and natural stones represent the primary options. Enamelled stone provides a broad tonal range, while natural stone introduces texture and material depth.
Cutting and finishing
Working with 2–3 mm tesserae requires precision tools and advanced expertise. Hand-cutting allows for micro-adjustments in critical details.
Graphic layout
Image transfer techniques (pixel-to-tessera mapping) are used to preserve the correspondence between the source file and the mosaic composition.
